Based on the decision of the Faculty Council from 26 May 2023, Faculty of Engineering is issuing a

for admission of students to Doctoral study programmes for acquiring the academic degree of Doctor of Science in the area of Engineering Sciences in the academic year 2023/24:
- In the fields of Mechanical engineering, Naval architecture, Fundamental engineering sciences, and Interdisciplinary engineering sciences for the modules
Production engineering
Thermal power engineering
Computational mechanics
Design and building of ships
Mechanical engineering design
Quality assurance and engineering system control
Ecological engineering and environmental protection

- In the field of Computer science for the module

By choosing courses with the guidance of his or her supervisor, each student can adjust the programme to his or her research interests.
Postgraduate university (doctoral) study programmes accept applicants with the following degrees:
- university graduate study programme on one of the university study programmes at a faculty from which the candidate has acquired at least 300 ECTS credits, including the undergraduate cycle
- university undergraduate study programme of at least 4 years completed on the basis of a study programme initiated before the Scientific Activity and Higher Education Act entered into force.
Students who have not completed a study programme in the area of engineering sciences may be allowed to enrol if it is assessed that they have the appropriate knowledge to study one of the offered study programmes.
If required, students may also be requested to complete bridging courses to acquire the basic knowledge necessary to attend and complete their study programme.
Applicants who have obtained a degree from a foreign educational institution are required to submit to the Faculty the decision of the competent authority on the recognition of foreign degrees before enrolling (https://uniri.hr/en/studies/academic-recognition-of-foreign-higher-education-qualifications-office/).
Applications for admission are to be submitted to the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Engineering, Vukovarska ulica 58, 51000 Rijeka, Croatia, until 30 September 2023. Upon applying, applicants will be called in for an interview with a committee appointed by the Faculty Council (planned between 5 and 13 October). Admission to the programme is approved by the Faculty Council.
Registration will be carried out from 30 October to 3 November 2023. Classes will start on 13 November 2023.
Applicants are required to submit the following with the Application Form PDS-1:
- PDS-1 application form
- PDS-2 curriculum vitae form
- evidence of necessary qualifications (diploma)
- certificate of exams passed with a transcript of exam and diploma thesis grades
- reference from at least one university professor who is familiar with the academic achievements of the candidate (PDS-3)
- supervisor’s consent with the supervisor’s CV (PDS-3)
- identification document copy
- confirmation of the institution or other legal person or a signed statement of the applicant regarding the payment of tuition fees
- other documentation that may be relevant for admission on the programme and for studying
- doctoral student sustainable research plan form, signed by the supervisor (PDS-15)
To get supervision approval, applicants first need to talk to the head of the module and the potential supervisor who must meet the conditions for supervisors in accordance with Article 17 of the Faculty of Engineering Regulations on Postgraduate Doctoral Study Programmes.
The tuition fee per semester is 1.000,00 EUR, in accordance with the special Decision on the amount of financial compensation.
