Field Trip – course Process Plants Equipment: Site Visit to the Holcim Cement Plant in Koromačno

On June 2nd 2026, second-year Graduate students in mechanical engineering (specializing in Thermal Engineering and Process Energy Engineering) visited Holcim Croatia quarry and cement plant in Koromačno. The field trip was organized as part of the Process Plant Equipment course.

The students explored production processes, equipment, and modern technological solutions driving the cement industry. A key focus of the visit was the KODECO NET ZERO project, an initiative demonstrating Holcim Croatia’s pioneering role in industrial decarbonization and green transition in the country. Holcim has initiated its sustainability and emission reductions since 1997, and this latest initiative actively drives the industry toward climate neutrality.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the plant’s management and staff for their warm welcome, expert guidance, and dedicated efforts in organizing this visit, as well as for presenting the Cement Plant’s decarbonization strategy.
