Field Trip – Process Plants Equipment course: Site Visit to the Holcim Cement Plant in Koromačno

On June 2, 2026, second-year graduate students in mechanical engineering specializing in Thermal Engineering and Process Energy Engineering visited the Holcim Croatia quarry and cement plant in Koromačno. The field trip was organized as part of the Process Plant Equipment course.

The students explored production processes, equipment, and modern technological solutions driving the cement industry. A key focus of the visit was the KODECO NET ZERO project, an initiative demonstrating Holcim Croatia’s pioneering role in industrial decarbonization and the green transition in the country. Holcim began its commitment to sustainability and emission reductions in 1997, and this latest initiative actively drives the industry toward climate neutrality.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the plant’s management and staff for their warm welcome, expert guidance, and dedicated efforts in organizing this visit, as well as for presenting the cement plant’s decarbonization strategy.
